Once Burned
Vlad was an intriguing character in previous Night Huntress books. I'm very pleased this layered, tortured man gets his own story (and multiple books to tell that story). I thought Leila was the perfect choice for him. I liked that she had her own abilities (and a difficult past) and was strong; she called bullshit when she needed to.
